SreePVF’s Research award Ceremony 2023

Dr Jitendra Singh, Honourable Union Minister graced the research award ceremony  as chief guest.
 
 
Sree Padmavathi Venkateswara Foundation (SreePVF) hosted an award ceremony to honour the recipients of the Sree Ramakrishna Paramahamsa Research Grant programme. The ceremony recognized the impactful projects from outstanding researchers selected through our funding initiatives over the past 5 years in the fields of Biomedical Sciences and Agricultural Sciences.

The event was held on the 29th of March 2023, 12 pm at The Theater, India Habitat Centre, Lodhi Road, New Delhi. Dr. Jitendra Singh, Honourable Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of S&T & Ministry of Earth Sciences, MoS in the Prime Minister’s office, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Department of Atomic Energy, Department of Space was the esteemed Chief Guest for the evening. His presence and insightful words were a motivation to all those in attendance as he shared his unique perspective as a central minister and a practicing clinician. Dr Singh commended the work of the foundation and spoke of the need for private organisations to join hands with the Government in supporting Science and Technology in the country.

The other distinguished guests included Dr GN Rao, founder of LV Prasad Eye Institute, who shared his perspective on the importance of Philanthropy for Indian Science and how SreePVF is a unique philanthropic organisation supporting translational research that can have a direct impact on society. The ceremony also featured speeches from Prof LS Shashidhara, Director, National Center for Biological Sciences; science advisor and member of the SreePVF Selection Committees, Biological Sciences and Agricultural Sciences and Prof Ramesh Sonti, the Director of International Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, Chair of the SreePVF Agricultural Committee. While Prof Shashidhara introduced the foundation and the Ramakrishna Paramahamsa Research Grant for Biological Sciences, Prof Sonti talked about how the Ramakrishna Paramahamsa Research grant in Agricultural Sciences can achieve the foundation’s goals and benefit the society.

The event was attended by a diverse group of researchers, scholars, and industry leaders. The ceremony also featured speeches from awardees giving attendees a chance to learn about their work and the ground-breaking translational research with potential to make a significant impact in our society. The award ceremony was a great success, and it provided an opportunity to celebrate the researchers whose work embodies the spirit of translational research. The ceremony also highlighted the importance of philanthropic support to drive innovation and the organisers hope that the work of the foundation inspires others to support advancements in research in the country through philanthropy.
